Inclusive Sport
A key aim of Sport Conwy’s work is to ensure that sport is accessible for all. With this in mind, this section will provide clubs who wish to become more inclusive with advice on how to do so.
Disability and Inclusive Sport
Physical activity and sport can have a huge impact on people’s lives playing a major role in improving health and wellbeing for disadvantaged people. Conwy has some excellent inclusive opportunities catering for disabled people and other groups who may find it difficult to engage within conventional sports clubs or leisure centre services. However, more opportunities are needed to cater for the diverse range of needs and choices within our local communities so that everybody has the opportunity to engage in meaningful physical activity.
Inclusive sport can and will look different – recognising that one size doesn’t fit all and different people will have different needs and preferences. By taking an equitable approach clubs can offer different outlets that allow people to choose an environment that matches their requirements and gives them a choice of how they want to engage in community sport.
The Ffit Conwy Activity Inclusion Model has been designed to assist activity providers, such as community clubs, independent organisations and Ffit Conwy services to promote a wider range of opportunities that provide more varied opportunities to local people.
